Introduction

What follows is a high-level overview of “probably” the most sophisticated Risk system
available. Its use is for general business and it jettisons the unhelpful traffic light system
(red amber and green) which it replaces with a UTM index between 0 and 100. UTM stands
for Urgency to Mitigate, unique to GD&D. The calculation is an algorithm based upon the
product of Likelihood and Business Impact.

The system breaks into four areas as follows:

1. An Overview Dashboard for:

Risk Managers (the most senior in the risk committee).
Risk Owners (the people who are responsible for their risk portfolio).
Control Owners (Reporting to the Risk Owner, those people who are responsible
for putting a mitigation in place).
Task Owners. Those people assigned to doing a task in order to help complete
getting the control and mitigation.

2. The Risk inputs themselves, evaluating the UTM, the Mitigation
effectiveness, the Risk Value and the cost of the mitigations.

3. The Risk Dashboard, cutting and slicing the data by country, region, office,
department and risk owner and displaying the data by use of widgets that
can be configured.

4. Reporting module where reports can be generated for more
thoughtful consideration.
